Shaping proposals for a town regeneration project

We have completed our work with High Peak Borough Council on community consultation and stakeholder engagement to help shape the Revitalising Buxton town centre project, which will guide the regeneration of Lower Buxton over the next 3-5 years with support from Future High Streets funding.

This project explored how new uses can be introduced for Buxton town centre to make it more appealing to visitors and residents and meet the needs of existing businesses in the town.

We worked closely with a project team and newly formed stakeholder panel which offered expertise, insights and advice as the project progressed.

community-led vision

Filigree’s vision was for the project to be shaped by town centre needs and championed by local people. We achieved this by conducting a clear, concise, open and two-way community consultation and stakeholder engagement which gathered insights that shaped proposals in a meaningful way.

seldom heard audiences

Working closely with the Stakeholder Panel we have identified seldom heard audiences, those groups or individuals who wouldn’t usually engage with the council.

We’ve facilitated workshops at local community hubs and at the secondary school to allow us to reach these seldom heard audiences, planning and offering a range of engagement activities to encourage participation.

Buxton is a town bursting with creative energy whether it's the Buxton International Festival, Buxton Festival Fringe, Buxton Well Dressing Festival or the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival.

As part of our engagement, we encouraged local people to share memories, anecdotes, stories and artistic expressions associated with this area of the town.

Our consultation offered opportunities to share ideas and suggestions through in-person events, workshops and digital methods were used to provide an alternative to those who wouldn’t normally join in or face barriers to participation.
