Following the biscuit crumbs

I’m sure you find all of our work interesting and can’t wait to see what else we’ve been up to, but I thought I would share some light hearted news from inside the workspace this week.

We have discovered a thief!

I know as well as anyone that there’s nothing better than a hot cup of tea or coffee in the morning; sitting at your desk, trying to wake yourself up. For some, that first cup of tea of the day, is as exciting as the morning is going to get! However, once in the kitchen, it’s hard not to notice the biscuit tin staring longingly at you, but it’s even harder not to notice it has moved. It’s no longer sitting lonely and empty in the corner anymore, it’s right next to the tea bags sealed shut. Odd place to put the empty tin of biscuits one might ponder, unless it has finally been refilled.

To the delight of many office members, someone has taken it upon themselves to refill it, at last. They aren’t the plain hobnobs this time either, they are the chocolate coated ones, result. Tea in one hand, biscuit in the other (secret second biscuit already devoured), morning complete. The rest of the day goes by, one by one the rest of the office sneaks in and out of the kitchen hiding their hands, crunching heard from every corner of the office. Everyone hiding behind their screens attempting to be as quiet as possible, desperate to not draw attention to themselves as the biscuits start to vanish one by one.

By lunch time, the buzz has died down and sandwiches are the main attraction. The kitchen is empty and so is the biscuit tin full-to-the-brim only three hours prior! Now I don’t expect everyone to avoid the biscuits, but usually they last at least a week. It comes down to the last one when the office has their annual debate over who deserves it. But they have all been demolished, just a few crumbs left in their place as well as a trail leading out of the kitchen and back into the office. Suspiciously, the crumbs disappear under the sofa and then re-emerge on the other side where they loop round and round until finishing underneath one of the desks. You may think this desk is home to our greedy, sneaky culprit and you are not wrong. However, the culprit doesn’t sit at the desk, she lounges. With pleading eyes and a wagging tail, she ensnares our hearts effortlessly, all the while weaving her web of mischief. I can reveal the real mastermind behind the biscuit bonanza – our beloved office dog, Edie.
