Storytelling: a golden thread

Kintsugi-storytelling.jpg

Kintsugi is the 500 year-old Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. This 'golden joinery' connects disparate shards of crockery; making sense of multiple, irregular pieces and reforming them into complete objects once more. The restored Kintsugi pot, has many a story to tell, traced along its golden fault lines.

We will each encounter thousands of stories over a lifetime, and they are at the heart of all we do at Filigree

Stories will come to us through the literary greats, but also appear in more discreet forms, at the heart of our daily interactions; from your colleague recalling her weekend away, to your wise old neighbour at the front gate. Some will stay with us for decades, others will fade in moments, all are a way to help us make sense of the world. Stories are the golden threads that keep us woven together.

Our appetite for stories is insatiable and digital storytelling on platforms like social media -Instagram Stories or Facebook Stories -  and websites are triumphantly amplifying narratives of the everyday and the extraordinary, and sharing them wider than ever before. It has never been more important for businesses connect with their audiences through the stories they tell.

The art of storytelling is the ability to speak to emotions, and communicate with your audience, with your authentic voice, in a way that truly connects.
